Electronic Trackit (eTrackit) uses new technologies to increase efficiency and integrity in traceability. It tracks the volume of certified material for each product (rather than the entire transaction) online via tokens, shows the real-time inventory of eTransactions, and ensures third-party verified peer-to-peer validation of transactions within a closed-loop supply chain.

HOW IT WORKS

Tracking certified materials using tokens in eTransactions


Registration

Certified organizations need to register themselves and their sites on the eTrackit system. Registered sites are validated against their permissible scope on their scope certificate (this will eventually be automated via an interface with dTrackit). The information is passed on to certification bodies for verification and approval.

eTransactions

Once their sites are registered, certified organizations can apply for eTransactions, which the system will authenticate against the permissible scope, as well as their available inventory, and their adherence to content and standard requirements. Validated eTransactions are then passed on to certification bodies for verification and approval.

Peer-to-Peer Validation

With the approval of eTransactions, the system will draw on the virtual inventory of the seller and move it to the buyer. The buyer will then need to accept the inventory to complete the peer-to-peer validation. The virtual inventory, coupled with this peer-to-peer validation, ensures that certified volume is always zero-sum within the supply chain.

TIMELINE

We're completing improvements identified from the pilot findings

We completed the Recycled Content Standard (RCS) and Global Recycled Standard (GRS) eTrackit pilot in August 2022. We are currently completing improvements identified from the pilot findings and expect to release the RCS and GRS for commercial use on eTrackit tentatively in July 2023. We will be piloting the Organic Content Standard (OCS) and the Responsible Animal Fibers (RAF) in June 2023 and Responsible Down Standard (RDS) in 2024.
