On Saturday, it was announced that women’s basketball sensation Caitlin Clark would not be included on the US Women’s Basketball team in the 2024 Olympics.

The greatest collegiate player in history, who broke nearly every men’s and women’s basketball scoring and assist records while at the University of Iowa, was excluded from the Olympic team.

(FOX WEATHER) -- SEASIDE, Oregon – A massive ocean oddity that washed up on a northern Oregon beach this week turned out to be a recently discovered species of sunfish, according to the local aquarium.

According to the Seaside Aquarium, a 7.3-foot sunfish was found on Gearhart Beach, north of Seaside, Oregon, on June 3.

"Initially, this large, strange looking fish was creating quite a stir on social media and though it was stormy, folks were flocking to the beach to see this unusual fish," the aquarium said on Facebook.

Giraffe lifts toddler out of vehicle at safari park

(NEW YORK POST) – A giraffe snatched a 2-year-old girl out of a vehicle while she was trying to feed it at a Texas safari ride, dramatic video shows. Paisley Toten was in the back of her family’s pickup truck feeding the animals at the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose on Saturday when a giraffe grabbed a bag of food — and the tot’s shirt — and lifted her into the air, KWTX reported.

“We stopped to feed the giraffes, and I turned around to look out the back window, and I saw the giraffe kind of digging around right there, and then it just grabbed her, and I didn’t see her no more,” Paisley’s father, Jason Toten, told the outlet.

(RVM NEWS) – The Northeastern region of the United States has faced its fair share of natural phenomena lately, from spotted lanternflies to cicadas. Now, residents must brace themselves for yet another unexpected invasion – giant venomous spiders with 4-inch-long legs that can “parachute” through the air, according to CBS News.

New Jersey Pest Control recently issued a warning about the impending arrival of these spiders. Known as Joro spiders, they are hard to miss due to their vibrant yellow and grey bodies, and females can have a leg span of up to 4 inches. What truly sets them apart, however, is their ability to “fly” – a rare trait among spiders. By using a technique called ballooning, Joro spiders release silk threads into the air, allowing themselves to be carried by the wind.

(ISRAEL HAYOM) -- A rare and ancient stone mask dating back more than 9,500 years has been discovered on Mount Hebron, shedding new light on prehistoric religious practices in the area. The remarkable archaeological find will go on public display for the first time at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

The mask was uncovered by an archaeological team from the Civil Administration near the settlement of Pnei Hever. Made of dolomitic limestone, it has been dated to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic B period in the 8th millennium BCE.

The artifact is part of an exceptionally small and rare group of just 16 ancient stone masks known to exist worldwide. All were found in the confined areas of the Hebron Hills, the Judean Desert and across the Jordan River Valley. This localized pattern strongly suggests the masks were part of a shared cult, ritual system or set of beliefs among the region’s inhabitants during that prehistoric era.

A Nebraska woman who was pronounced dead in hospice care and transported to a funeral home came back to life and was brought to a hospital where she died a second time.

Constance Glantz, 74, was pronounced dead for a second time on Monday at 4 p.m., according to Lancaster County Chief Deputy Ben Houchin.

"It's a very unusual case," Houchin said at a Monday news conference. "Been doing this 31 years and nothing like this has ever gotten to this point before."

Glantz had been taken to the Butherus-Maser & Love Funeral Home, where an employee noticed her breathing and immediately dialed 9-1-1 just two hours after she was said to be deceased.

An autopsy has been ordered by Lancaster County Attorney Pat Condon, and the investigation is ongoing.

Houchin indicated officials at the funeral home have been cooperating with law enforcement in the probe.

"I also want to state in our investigation that the funeral home did nothing wrong. They are the ones that found that she was still alive," Houchin said.

KOLN-TV reported: "Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to the Butherus-Maser & Love Funeral Home at 11:43 a.m. on Monday. The caller said CPR was in progress for a 74-year-old woman.

"Earlier, around 9:45 a.m., Glantz had been pronounced dead by staff at The Mulberry nursing home in Waverly. She had been in hospice, and nursing staff were expecting her to pass away, according to Houchin.

"Funeral home staff transported the woman back to Lincoln. While preparing her body for funeral arrangements, a staff member noticed she was still breathing and called 9-1-1.

"Lincoln Fire and Rescue transported Glantz to the hospital where she died hours later."

(DAILY CALLER) – Two Florida teenagers rescued a driver whose vehicle plunged into a canal Wednesday night, WSVN reported.

Two teens saved a man’s life after a truck plunged into a canal in Florida, and local community and authorities praised the courage and quick action of the young heroes. Tony Cooper and his friend, who were at a nearby restaurant at the time, noticed the vehicle as it lost control and submerged into the canal, according to WSVN. Without hesitation, they ran to the scene, removed their shoes and jumped into the water to assist the driver.

“We rushed and took off our shoes and stuff,” Cooper said, the outlet reported. “We literally jumped on the hood and then we took off the seat belt and then we pulled them out. (FOX NEWS) – Wisconsin historians recently announced the discovery of at least 11 ancient canoes in a Badger State lake, including one boat that dates to 2500 B.C. The findings were announced in a press release by the Wisconsin Historical Society May 23. The canoes were found in Lake Mendota, which is located in Madison.

The Wisconsin Historical Society explained that two ancient canoes were found in a cache in the lake in 2021 and 2022. Since then, historians have found at least 11 other ancient canoes, along with what they believe was an ancient shoreline that became submerged over time.

(FOX WEATHER) – Never in over a century has a botanist in Vermont seen a tiny floodplain herb until now. It's all thanks to the keen eyesight of the state's newest plant scientist, Grace Glynn, who had been on the hunt for the false mermaid-weed (Floerkea proserpinacoides) since starting her job about a year ago, the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department said. The last discovery was recorded in 1916.

Earlier this spring, the agency said Glynn's hard work and dedication paid off when she noticed a small sprig of the elusive plant in the background of a photo of another rare plant sent in by a colleague.

(AP NEWS) – Aquaman might not mind if the oceans rise, but moviegoers might. That’s one of the takeaways from a new study conducted by researchers who set out to determine if today’s Hollywood blockbusters are reflective of the current climate crisis. The vast majority of movies failed the “climate reality check” proposed by the authors, who surveyed 250 movies from 2013 to 2022.

The test is simple – the authors looked to see if a movie presented a story in which climate change exists, and whether a character knows it does. One film that passed the test was the 2017 superhero movie “Justice League," in which Jason Momoa’s Aquaman character says, “Hey, I don’t mind if the oceans rise” to Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne.

But most movies fell short – fewer than 10% of the 250 films passed, and climate change was mentioned in two or more scenes of fewer than 4% of the films. (FOX NEWS) – What the cluck? A group of unruly feral chickens are reportedly wrecking havoc on a tight-knit British village, altering the way of life in the quiet community, while also attracting tourists who have exacerbated the problem.

Residents in Snettisham, a village in the English county of Norfolk, said their lives have been made "hell" after the birds swarmed the area, The Guardian reported. The feral chickens have reportedly ruined gardens and kept residents up at night, among other nuisances.

Toco the Human Collie said the challenges of moving like a dog have led him to consider imitating a host of other animals, as well.

“Dogs and humans have different bone structures and the way they bend their legs and arms, so it’s very difficult to make movements that look like this,” Toco said. “I might realistically be able to become another dog, a panda or a bear. A fox or a cat would also be nice, but they are too small for humans to try.” He added: “I’d like to fulfill my dream of becoming another animal someday.”

Tamika Reid was getting her family ready for the day when a group of men forced their way into her home, terrifying her and her children, including her five-year-old son David, according to a recently resurfaced report by CBS Chicago.

According to footage of the home invasion, David was sitting in his home with two other children and Reid when four men, three of whom were armed, burst into the house after one of the children answered the door.

(NEW YORK POST) -- Bill Walton, a college basketball icon, former NBA MVP and Hall of Famer who then became a legendary broadcaster, died from cancer Monday surrounded by family, the league announced. He was 71 years old.

(JNS) -- A gold ring dating from the early Hellenistic period set with a precious stone was recently found in the joint Israel Antiquities Authority-Tel Aviv University excavation in Jerusalem’s City of David.

The 2,300-year-old ring was discovered by Tehiya Gangate, a City of David excavation team member.

“I was sifting earth ... and suddenly saw something glitter,” she recounted. “I immediately yelled, ‘I found a ring, I found a ring!’ Within seconds everyone gathered around me, and there was great excitement,” she said, adding, “This is an emotionally moving find, not the kind you find every day.”

American Idol winner Abi Carter wowed the crowd Sunday night, with the 21-year-old taking home the Season 22 victory. In a follow-up interview on Live with Kelly and Mark, Carter told hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos that she’s been musical since before she was born, as her mother listened in during an ultrasound appointment and heard her ‘singing’ in the womb.

“I’d never heard of this before this segment, but you actually were humming in utero?” Ripa asked Carter.

“Fun fact,” Carter explained. “When my mom was pregnant with me she went in for an ultrasound. And the doctor was listening for a heartbeat and he takes off his headphones and puts them down and says, ‘Andrea, you need to listen to this. I don’t even know what I’m hearing, it sounds like whale sounds — she’s singing in your stomach,'” Carter said. “I looked it up recently and it’s a thing — sometimes babies will sing in their mom’s stomach.”

“My mom is a singer herself,” the American Idol winner went on. “So I was always listening to her sing from the womb.”

This extraordinary phenomenon is just one of the many signs that preborn children are living, growing beings in their mother’s wombs. The child is developing at a remarkable rate as she goes from a mere cell to a complex human child throughout the nine-month gestation. Live Action’s “Meet Baby Olivia” video gives a sneak peek at this process.

As the Endowment for Human Development notes, beginning at 18 weeks, the child’s speaking movements begin in her larynx, or voice box. By 20 weeks gestation, her sense of hearing begins to function, which means she can hear her mother singing to her. In fact, these movements may begin even earlier; a 2016 study led by Dr Marisa Lopez-Teijon of the Institut Marques in Barcelona showed babies “singing” to orchestral music as early as 16 weeks.

“On hearing music, the fetus (sic) responds with movements similar to vocalization, which is the step prior to singing and speaking,” the study authors wrote.

As Carter’s story shows, responding to music and learning to sing are traits that begin before a child is even born.

(NEW YORK POST) – A Kentucky man who was famous for racking up more than 1,300 arrests during his lifetime, died last weekend at the age of 74, according to reports.

Henry Earl, who made national news as “the world’s most arrested man” for his prolific rap sheet, was buried at Owenton Cemetery Thursday afternoon, with workers from the Owenton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Facility, where he spent the final years of his life, in attendance. Earl had no family that could be contacted to attend the ceremony, WLEX reported.

(REUTERS) – A New Mexico judge on Friday rejected Alec Baldwin's bid to dismiss an involuntary manslaughter charge for the 2021 shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, opening the way for an unprecedented trial of a Hollywood actor for an on-set death.

Baldwin's lawyers argued at a May 17 hearing that a grand jury indictment of the actor was "a sham" as a New Mexico state prosecutor failed to tell jurors they could question defense witnesses and stopped them hearing evidence helpful to the actor's case.

(NEW YORK POST) – A California mother was slapped with a fine worth $88,000 after her kids mistakenly collected clams – thinking they were picking up seashells – on the beach without a fishing license. Charlotte Russ was on a family trip to Pismo Beach, known as the “Clam Capital of the World,” when she said her kids picked up 72 clams from the clamming hotspot during their getaway, according to ABC 7.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife confronted the mother of five and told her that her kids were collecting the clams without a license, and issued her a ticket.

Tara Berry of Topeka, Kan., earned the Guinness World Record for the most tattoos of the same musician on the body (female), taking the title from British woman Nikki Patterson, who has 15 tattoos of the rapper Eminem.

Berry said she got her first Madonna tattoo in 2016, when she heard the singer was looking for tattooed fans to appear in a music video, but her ink rendition of the singer wasn't finished in time to make the cut.

(UPI) – A New Zealand auction house said a single feather from an extinct huia bird became the most expensive feather in the world when it sold for $28,417. Webb's Auction House said the feather had been expected to sell for up to $1,800, but shattered expectations – as well as the previous record, which was set by a feather from a bird of the same species when it sold for $5,150 in 2010.

(UPI) – A helpful chimpanzee at a Chinese zoo was caught on camera returning a shoe that had been dropped into the enclosure by a young visitor.

The video, recorded at the Shendiaoshan Wild Animal Nature Reserve in Weihai City, Shandong Province, shows a chimpanzee named Dong Dong playing with a shoe that had been dropped into the enclosure by a child.

(FOX BUSINESS) -- Passengers onboard a Singapore Airlines aircraft that encountered "severe turbulence" described the "sheer terror" during the critical moments when the Boeing jet was left "shuddering."

The aircraft, which had 211 passengers and 18 crew onboard, was heading from London to Singapore when it encountered "severe turbulence," which left one passenger dead and 104 passengers needing medical attention.

The White House staff, of course, protects him by correcting what he says when the official transcript of his comments is released.

Now there's a satire video, posted on Rumble, that purports to reveal the frustrations for "Joe's Comms Team."

Among the fixes were that Biden was happy to receive an "award," not an "organization" as he said.

And he wasn't really meaning to crack down on landlords "who keep rent down."

And his speech was to address bloodbath, not bloodshed.

Prominent was his claim to condemn "erectionists," almost as good as when he wondered aloud how long it would take for voters to figure out they couldn't trust him.

They are not criminals, before conviction, but they have been accused.

But one network has carried its use of "alleged" to realms before now not known.

The report from "NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt" was about the unfolding tragedy – deaths, injuries and much damage – from a tornado that hit Greenfield, Iowa.

A town leveled by a tornado is one of them. NBC News wasn't so sure and wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt."

(FOX NEWS) -- A grandmother recently completed a historic, 17-hour-long swim through shark-inhabited waters off the Northern California coast – all without a wetsuit.

Swimmer extraordinaire Amy Appelhans Gubser, 55, completed the aquatic journey on May 11. She began at San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge at around 3:27 a.m. and ended up at the Farallon Islands at around 8:30 p.m. that night.

According to the Marathon Swimmers Foundation, Gubser is the only swimmer to complete that specific route without a wetsuit. Two men successfully completed the swim in 2014, and there were also three documented failures between 2012 and 2015.

(CBS NEWS) -- The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is moving Jane Fonda Day to another date following criticism from Vietnamese American politicians and other lawmakers.

But it wasn't just the board's decision to honor the actress-activist — it was the particular day they chose.

When they announced it, Jane Fonda Day was described by county supervisors as a tribute to her climate activism as it would occur during "Earth Month." But a little over a week later, the board announced it would change the date to another in April "out of respect for the community voices who have spoken up." The change is set to be made official during a meeting Tuesday.

(FOX BUSINESS) -- Scarlett Johansson is "angered and in disbelief" by tech company OpenAI over its ChatGPT app's voice, Sky, noting it uses a voice very similar to hers.

On Monday, just shy of a week after OpenAI debuted the voice, Johansson's publicist, Marcel Pariseau, issued a statement to FOX Business explaining that the actress' legal team had sent the tech company two letters asking them to explain their process of how they came up with the personal assistant's voice in their artifical intelligence technology.

OpenAI demonstrated the voice last week, NPR reported, and many observers found an uncanny likeness between the assistant's voice and Johansson's voice in the 2013 sci-fi film "Her." The movie focused on a man falling in love with the voice of the female operating system on his computer.

The Elberta High School junior was on a solo after school fishing trip Tuesday, May 14, 2024 when he hooked into something big. Gardner Love has got a lot to smile about. He’s been fishing all his life and is passionate about it. So much so, it’s his favorite after school activity. That’s just what he was doing on Soldiers Creek Tuesday when his fish tale began.

“Whenever I casted it I was probably a good…the wind was blowing towards land and I casted and I got snagged up in a tree that was in this marsh and I yanked it back and got it unsnagged and as soon as it hit the water, the fish blew up on it,” Love recalled. “It threw water ten feet in the air. I thought it was a tarpon at first, but it turns out it wasn’t.”

(FOX NEWS) -- A woman is sharing her recent airplane drama with others on social media after another woman tried to shame her for traveling with an infant who made some noise — and for switching seats.

Describing herself as 31 years old and traveling alone with a 19-month-old son on a three-hour flight, the woman said her child, who was "under age two," had to sit on her lap.

"I also had a big backpack with all the necessities that I keep on the floor and easily accessible," wrote the woman on the Reddit page known as "AITA" ("Am I the a**hole").

Joe Biden's catalog of known verbal gaffes and speech blunders goes on forever. He once told a supporter confined to a wheel chair to "stand up" and more recently openly wondered how long it would be before voters figured out they can't trust him.

And he's just added a new one – a reference to the Jan. 6, "erectionists."

The 2020 election, of course, was subjected to the undue influence of $400 million plus handed out to elections officials by Mark Zuckerberg. They mostly used it to recruit voters in Democrat districts.

Further, the FBI engaged in election interference by falsely telling media corporations that the accurate reporting about Biden family scandals, derived from information in Hunter Biden's abandoned laptop, was disinformation.

One response simply was, "Trump Derangement Syndrome is a disease," and explained, "It's a condition where objective thinking and rational judgment are entirely consumed by extreme hatred. Logic and reason are compromised by a false data set of bias and propaganda."

A pop singer who gained prominence by singing in a gay bathhouse some five decades ago has humiliated herself by wildly suggesting that Hillary Clinton DIDN'T claim that the 2016 election, when President Donald Trump beat her, was stolen.

The comment was from Bette Midler, who actually went to social media to claim, "Can you imagine what would have happened if Hillary Clinton had claimed the election was stolen?"

Social media crowds were quick to correct her, and one even responded with a video of "24 STRAIGHT MINUTES" of Democrats denying election results, including Clinton's still-held opinion about her loss.

A commentary at Twitchy pointed out, "We're not gonna lie we honestly don't know where to start with this post by notoriously liberal singer and actress Mette Midler."

It cited a National Review report which noted Clinton "is sticking with her conviction that the 2016 presidential election was not conducted legitimately, saying the details surrounding her loss are still unclear."

Clinton claimed, "There was a widespread understanding that this election [in 2016] was not on the level. We still don’t know what really happened. There’s just a lot that I think will be revealed. History will discover."

Among those pointing out that Clinton repeatedly and consistently has claimed she lost only because the election was stolen was one observer who pointed out, "She did, and so did you," with a reposting on a 2018 comment from Bette Midler that, "Trump's getting us all used to the idea that he can pardon himself for his part in Russian interference in the election."

The Democrats' claim at that time, and for many continues to be, that Russa interfered in the 2016 election to place President Trump in office. A years-long investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller, however, debunked those conspiracy theories.

It was PJMedia that noted how Midler "humiliates" herself with the claim.

The report noted, "Bette Midler's career peaked years ago, and at this point, the only way she is capable of getting attention is with anti-Trump rants. During the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, she controversially tweeted, 'Women are the n-word of the world. Raped, beaten, enslaved, married off, worked like dumb animals; denied education and inheritance; enduring the pain and danger of childbirth and life IN SILENCE for THOUSANDS of years They are the most disrespected creatures on earth.'"

She later expressed a fantasy about Trump and his family being hanged, and while those later were deleted, her social media still is full of anti-Trump ranks, the report said.

It also cited her for paying so little attention.

And it provided examples of Clinton's comments, including, "You can run the best campaign, you can even become the nominee, and you can have the election stolen from you."

Clinton also has insisted that President Trump, in office, knew "he's an illegitimate president.'

The report wondered, "Why do Democrats always get away with claiming every election they lose was stolen from them?"

One comment was simple: "She still dwells on this."

A fireball races across the skies over Western Europe on Saturday night, May 18, 2024.

The sky over Western Europe became a sensational attraction over the weekend as a blazing blue fireball raced across the heavens in Portugal, Spain and France.

The International Meteor Organization reported: "Many people were out in Spain and Portugal on Saturday night. The ones that were fortunate enough to be located in the Western parts of the Iberic peninsula could observe a dramatic meteoric event: a huge and fast moving fireball appeared in the sky and nearly turned it into daylight on May 18, at 22h 46min UT."

(FOX NEWS) -- Officials are pointing the finger at climate change as a Texas town battles with another spring of exploding mosquito populations.

"If you open the car door to go somewhere, you’ve got 10 mosquitoes inside," Mith Varley, a resident of the Houston suburb of Conroe, Texas, said of the issue, according to a report in the Washington Post.

Varley, who has lived in the area of Montgomery County for nearly 10 years, told the Washington Post he has never seen it worse. While the area of Texas has always been known as an ideal mosquito habitat, flood-inducing rains over the last few weeks have given the pesky insects even more ideal areas to breed and spread.
